Resources for Our Community from the Massage and Esthetics Programs at Health Works
Mindful Community Outreach is at the core of Health Works’ mission to enhance the health of individuals and our community. Since opening our doors in 2000, Health Works Institute has promoted community wellness by offering public clinics and community classes. The Massage and Esthetics School has also donated hundreds of gift certificates for massage and skin care treatments to numerous nonprofit organization fundraisers, and we have given complimentary treatments to a wide variety of groups and individuals, including participants in sports events, children with cancer and disabilities, and women recovering from domestic violence.
2012 Massage and Esthetics Community Appreciation
In 2012, we launched our inaugural Massage and Esthetics Community Appreciation campaign to honor people who serve others, focusing on staff and volunteers at numerous community agencies. We are also preparing to offer an opportunity for community members to join a research project tracking the beneficial effects of massage on a number of illnesses and conditions. Each student will provide several massages to a Clinic client with an identified condition, and the client will participate in the measurement of symptoms associated with the condition. The results of each study will be submitted to the Massage Therapy Foundation as the student's application for a scholarship provided by the Foundation.
