Inside are art studios and galleries, a restaurant, an auditorium, and several rooms that are used for community events, including concerts, meetings, and classes in topics ranging from foreign languages to drama and ballet. Health Works Institute is located in the northwest annex of the building, which is a separate wing that is quiet and a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the main building. Parking is plentiful in the adjacent lot and surrounding streets. The post office, several banks, city and county offices, a variety of restaurants, and many interesting shops are located within a few blocks.

The massage therapy school occupies the entire first floor of the northwest annex of the Emerson. Included in this space are three classrooms, a reception area where the bookstore and library are located, administrative offices, a kitchen, a student lounge, and lockers located in the hallway.

The massage therapy school provides students with numerous resources to support students’ success in meeting program requirements. Learning resources also provide students information beyond what is presented in textbooks and class materials, so that students may pursue further learning in topics related to massage therapy as well as a wide range of theories and practices in complementary and alternative medicine.
